This structure represents the beginning of the "arcology" movement in which humans reduce their environmental footprint by building up instead of out. Think of this a a no-auto zone city where everyone can get everywhere without special transportation. Also, think of the material savings when my floor is your ceiling and we share walls and walkways and elevators and....well you get the point. Enormous efficiencies await us. JB
