Electric mobility startup Leaf Energy already has a number of electric delivery solutions, ebikes and e-scooters in its line up, and has now launched another on Indiegogo in the shape of an all-terrain tilting three-wheeler called the D05.

Toyota is continuing its big push into the electric mobility space, enlisting the expertise of Panasonic to help develop advanced batteries for electric vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions through the Prime Planet Energy & Solutions joint venture.

Toyota continuing their path of dominance by partnering up with Global Powerhouse Panasonic once again to create a new prismatic battery in a solid-state design to attract business from EV-Makers other than Toyota. Toyota stepping up to the plate to create a universal battery that any manufacturer can use to "Accelerate the World's Transition to Sustainable Energy" <-- Tesla watch out!

UK startup Arrival is working with UPS to develop a new mini fleet of electric delivery vehicles. The e-trucks are to be rolled out in London and Paris this year and are reported capable of rolling much farther between charges than other electric service vehicles currently in operation.

Polaris has sewn up the exclusive rights to the Zero Motorcycles electric powertrain for snowmobile and off-road use, and it's bringing the first fruits of that partnership to the market later this year with a Zero-powered full-size Ranger UTV.

A Texas-based startup has raised US$4.5 million in seed funding to develop and commercialize a remarkable electric motor technology it claims can massively reduce the size and complexity of electric powertrains while also significantly boosting efficiency and doubling the torque output.

This is the next step in the electric car paradigm shift. First, we were just impressed that Elon Musk could build such a thing. Now the next step is for potential suppliers to offer better technology to service the same issues. A better electric motor does just that. JB

As well as offering a raft of powerful two- and four-wheel drive hybrids, the most recent PSA Group Innovation Day has revealed Peugeot and Citroen are working on an EV with 450 km of range from a 50 kWh battery.

Oh, my, what hath Elon triggered? Great competition. Everyone is getting into the act for fear of being left behind. But the real threat is "Uber-like" transportation companies that change the number of cars needed ratio dramatically even as they are lowering the cost of transportation. JB
