I drove a Tesla a few weeks ago and you will not believe how fast these things are. I was not even in the "Insane" mode. Progress on electrics will reduce dependencies on oil and major shifts are in store as we unleash the sun as a source of power.

This is how new transportation technology improves--racing. All jokes aside, the extreme environment teaches engineers a lot and now that learning is about electric vehicles--cars, trucks, airplanes, motorcycles.
